She was born on April 18, 1926 in South Bend to the late Henry O.E. and Selma Mae (Morris) Peterson. On August 31, 1946 in South Bend she married William F. Moon who preceded her in death on November 28, 1997.

Selma graduated from North Liberty High School in 1944.  She worked as a Secretary for the Indiana State Police, retiring in 1978 after many years of service.

Selma is survived by one daughter, Holly C. Moon of Lakeville; one son, Murray S. (Sandy) Moon of Indianapolis; one sister, Mary Ellen Zell of Dearborn, MI; and two grandchildren, Derek W. Moon and Brian P. Moon both of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, one son Patrick D. Moon on February 16, 1992 and one brother Owen Peterson in 1976.

Selma loved animals, enjoyed walking every day, traveling, walking on the beach in Michigan City and going antiquing.  She was a member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church.

Selma’s wishes were to be cremated and her loving family has honored her wishes.

The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614 or donor’s choice.

I want to express my sympathy for the loss of your mom, she was such a sweet lady. I used to babysit for Murray and Holly many years ago. I also worked for your dad at the Newstand. Your family was special and I am thankful for the memories.
