Louise Y. Mark, 88, of South Bend passed away on Tuesday, August 9th at the Center for Hospice Care, South Bend with her loving family by her side.

She was born on November 3, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Sing-Foon and Shanhai (Mock) Lee.  She moved to the Michiana Area in 1948 coming from New York.

On October 10, 1948 in South Bend she married Wong C. Mark who preceded her in death on January 6, 2004.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey M. Mark on April 16, 2001 and a brother, David Lee on May 23, 1991.

Louise is survived by her children, Donna L. (Dennis) Mark-Spradlin of Gallatin, TN, Dorinda A. (David) Hollenbeck of Las Vegas, NV and Philip K. (Brenda) Mark of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Stephanie McGinley, Christopher Mark, Kollan Spradlin, Konner Spradlin, Sarah Mark, Jason Mark and Brandon Mark and two great grandchildren, Kassidy and Carson McGinley.  Also surviving are her four sisters, Jeanette Chin of Omaha, NE, Ann Lee of Los Angeles, CA, Alice Eng of Cliffside Park, NJ and Mary Mark of Concord, CA and a brother, Henry Lee of Pembroke Pines, FL.

Louise retired on May 1, 1983 from Mark’s Chinese Restaurant which she and her husband owned for many years. 

She was a very active member of Faith United Methodist Church.  She volunteered at the Coffee Shop in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.  Louise cherished and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

You in the palm of His hand.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel” located at State Rd 23/W. Ireland Rd., South Bend.  Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13th with visitation 1-hour prior at Faith United Methodist Church located at 802 E. Ewing Ave., South Bend with Pastor Larry Chrisman officiating.  Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend.

The family request memorial contributions be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 802 E. Ewing Street, South Bend, IN 46613 or Center for Hospice, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

My heartfelt sympathy to Donna Mark Spradlin and her family and close friends. It is always sad and sometimes difficult to say a final goodbye to our parents, but their memories live on in our mind and hearts forever. Peace be with you and those you love.
