Ronald C. Nowicki, 71 of South Bend passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend with his loving family by his side.
He was born on April 22, 1946 in South Bend to Charles Nowicki and Evelyn Bella.
On February 24, 1968 at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church in South Bend he married the love of his life, Kathleen A. Nyari who survives.
Ron is also survived by his children, Laura Brugh of South Bend, IN and Ronald C. (Suzanne) Nowicki, Jr. of New Carlisle, IN; three grandchildren, Alexis Nowicki, Ryan Brugh and Michaela Brugh, a sister, Cynthia (Rich) Deneve of Mishawaka, IN; two brothers, Donald (Kathy) Bella of South Bend, IN and Jerry (Pam) Bella of Mishawaka, IN; sister-in-laws, Linda (Charles Jennings) Nyari, Diane Nyari, Mary (John) Thoma and Rebecca Nowicki and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Nowicki, his mother and step father Thomas and Evelyn Bella and a brother, Daniel Nowicki.
Ron proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired as a Machinist from Timkin Company, South Bend. He was a member of the American Legion Post 363 in Lakeville, Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church where he was the former Trustee and Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Hungary. He was also the ICCL Girls Volleyball Coach at Our Lady of Hungary for ten years.
He enjoyed going fishing especially in the UP of Michigan, going to the Casinos and was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel” located at State Road 23/W. Ireland Road, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 25th at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, 829 W. Calvert St., South Bend. Burial will be held at a later date at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
