Donella J. (Kurzhal) Newcomb, 83 of North Liberty passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at her home in North Liberty, with her loving family by her side.

 Donella was born on July 22, 1934 in South Bend to the late Otto and Ida Mae (Smith) Kurzhal.

 On October 26, 1956 in North Liberty she married LeRoy J. (Bud) Newcomb Jr. Bud passed away on January 20, 2018. Donella is survived by her daughters, Laura A. (Jerald) Denton of North Liberty and Sarah J. (Barry) Bottorff of Plymouth; her son, Chris J. (Debbie) Newcomb of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Knepp, Hannah Bottorff and Kyle Denton, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Gladys Shafer and Ruth Ann Rizek, both of North Liberty.

 Donella was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Melissa Newcomb, two sisters, Edna German, Adeline Williams, two brothers, Maynard and Edward Kurzhal.

 Donella worked at Wilcox Supermarket in North Liberty for a number of years and the North Liberty Elementary School. She took great pride in her home and was an exceptional homemaker.

 She was a wonderful loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her loving family, church family and numerous friends who she made during her life journey.

 She loved reading novels, loved cooking, going to lunch with friends, but especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved and cherished.

 Donella was a member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church.

 A graveside service for Bud and Donella will be Saturday, May 12th at 11:00 A.M. at Westlawn Cemetery in North Liberty. Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service.

 There will be a luncheon after the service at the North Liberty United Methodist Church.

 The family request memorial contributions be made to the North Liberty United Methodist Church, 107 South Main Street, North Liberty, IN 46554 or Heart to Heart Hospice, 20 West Edison Road #122, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

 The Hanley and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Newcomb family.

Laura,Sarah,Chris. So sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. Aunt Donella and Uncle Bud always greeted me with a smile,hug,handshake and always asked about my wellbeing. Although l haven't seen everyone very often in the last 25 years l have fond memories of everyone to keep. Again sorry for your loss. Tim Kurzhal
