  Carol L. Spencer, 74, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, December 25th, at Memorial Hospital, in South Bend, IN.

 Carol was born in Louisville, KY on January 22, 1944 to the late Joseph R. and Dorothy E. (Janorske) Roe.

  On August 16, 1975, in Columbia City, IN she married Ralph F. Spencer. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2009. Carol was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph H. Roe, on December 4, 2016.

  Carol is survived by her brother, Thomas M. (Bette) Roe, of South Bend, IN.

  She was a former school teacher (4th and 8th grades) for the Whitney School Corporation and a homemaker. Carol loved to read and taking care of her pets.

  The family would like to thank the following; Edith and Julie at Wedgewood Pines and the staff at Western Veterinary Clinic, whom she adored.

  Memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s honor to Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnett Drive, South Bend, IN 46614.

  Visitation will be on Friday, January 4, 2019, at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel” located at 23421 State Road 23, South Bend, IN from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Tim Stewart, officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 23465 Edison Road, South Bend, IN.

  The HANLEY and Sons Funeral Home handled arrangements, services and extends its deepest sympathy to Carol’s family.
