Kirk Douglas Butler, 70 of Walkerton has gone to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 9th, 2021, following an illness at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN.

He was born on March 20th, 1951 in South Bend, IN to the late William and Iris (Carter) Butler.

On August 30th, 1974, he married his one and only, Marcia (Feltz) Butler from New Carlisle, IN, who survives along with three sons that God blessed them with, Casey (Jennifer Nedd) Butler of California, Bret Butler of Indianapolis, IN and Ty (Analysse Paglia) Butler of Visalia, California. Kirk is also survived by four beautiful, precious grandchildren: Dahlia, Audrey, Katalina and Camden Butler, that he loved dearly, his sister, Linda Bell and brother, Bill (Donna Dobosz) Butler, both of South Bend, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cathy (Butler) Mentag, husband, Gary Mentag and Paula (Butler) Cambrin, husband, Jeff Cambrin.

Kirk worked many years at Lock Joint Tube on Ireland Road, South Bend, as a machinist. Kirk proudly served in the Army Reserves for six (6) years and was honorably discharged. He loved working, not only at his job, but also on his farm that he shared with his lovely wife Marcia. Kirk also enjoyed his dog, Buddy, a black lab and watching old westerns. In his spare time Kirk enjoyed being a hardworking guy, fishing, collect antiques. His greatest love was being with his family, especially his grandchildren. We all loved him and will miss him more than he will ever knew. He showed his son's how to be good men, and that nothing comes easy. You have to work hard for what you want.

Kirk was a special kid. No, I mean SPECIAL! When he was a young teenager he took care of his parents yard and property like a professional landscaper. He was focused and what every parent would want their child to be. Kirk raised pigeons and the responsibility he displayed towards them was inspirational. He even got one of the younger kids in the neighborhood started in the hobby. He was a quiet guy and tolerated a lot that few others ever would. The one time I did seem him retaliate against someone who wouldn't leave him alone all the parents in the neighborhood understood his frustration and supported Kirk. He was a one of a kind kind of guy and I was lucky to have grown up with him.
Prayers and condolences to his family.
