Jeffry H. Wells

Jeffry H. Wells, 65, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly in the morning of Sunday, January 28, 2024, in his home.

Jeff was born on October 6, 1958, in Decatur, Alabama, to the late Darrow and Emily H. (Hitchcock) Wells.  On August 23, 1986, he married Danette L. Pieczonka, in Will County, Illinois.  They moved to the area in 1988.  He achieved a degree in mechanical engineering and was employed at Lippert Components, in Goshen.  Jeff was UIC for District 14 Little League and a member of IHSAA.  He liked to stay active umpiring softball and baseball games for Southeast Little League and was an official for swim meets.  He enjoyed a good round golf with his friends or relaxing with his fishing pole on the lake.  He also had an eye for photography.  His greatest joy in life was when he was surrounded by his loving family.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Danette L. Wells of South Bend, by his daughter, Audree L. Wells of Austin, Texas, and by his son, Joe H. Wells of Mishawaka.  He is also survived by his brother, Phillip L. Wells of Gilman, IL.

The family is following Jeff’s wishes to be cremated.  There will be a Celebration of Life at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel”, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614, where friends may visit with the family from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 9, 2024.  Memorial contributions can be made to donor’s choice.
