Cheryl M. (Northam) Lowry-Hunsley, 85, of Mishawaka passed into eternal rest on the early morning of Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Raclin House due to an extended illness.
Cheryl was born on June 9, 1938, in Walkerton, to the late Leonard and Clela (Stoffel) Northam. She grew up and remained a lifelong resident to the area. In 1957, she married George Lowry until his passing in 1976. In November of 1977 she married Leo Hunsley, together they shared almost 20 years of marriage until his passing in 1996. She was retired from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Mishawaka after 10 years of bookkeeping. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, reading a good book, and all the time she spent with her family.
Cheryl is survived by her daughters, Denise (Steven) Hunsley of Pekin, Indiana and Danette Sudlow of Mill Creek, Indiana and by her son, Shaun (Heather) Lowry of Whiteland, Indiana. She was the proud grandma of six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Linnie (Richard) Hilde of Elkhart, Rogene (Jerry) Rankert of South Bend, and Kimberly (Mike) Towle of Walkerton and by her brothers, Leonard (Deborah) Northam of Walkerton, Ronald (Mary) Northam of Plymouth, along with several nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, her spouses, by her sister, Jerri Sue Scott and by her brothers, Dennis Northam, Bernard Northam and Gregory Northam.
There will be a funeral service at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Walkerton Chapel”, 1216 Roosevelt Road, where friends may visit with the family two hours prior to service. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in honor of Cheryl can be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
