Randall H. Spriggs, 50, of South Bend lost his life in a vehicle accident Sunday July 6th near Holland, Michigan, and joined his father and two brothers who passed before him.

Randy was born on August 10, 1963 in South Bend to Jack and Carol (Barker) Spriggs.

He is survived by his mother; Carol Barker Spriggs of South Bend, his partner Robert W. Clausen of South Bend, an Uncle Russell H. Barker II of Williston, North Dakota, and also an Aunt & Uncle David and Dorothy Wilson of Mill Creek, IN.  He also leaves behind many cousins.

Randy will be missed and loved by all.  He was an inspiration to so many.  He was able to council and support people recovering from drug addiction. He also started a local chapter of Emotions Anonymous in South Bend for people who were suffering from depression, emotional issues, and recovering alcoholics.  He was always ready to help anyone for any reason.

Randy enjoyed fishing and taking many vacations with his partner, to places all around the world and the U.S.

Surely there was a great reunion when he joined his father Jack and two brothers, Jeffery and Jode.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 AM on Saturday July 19th at Christ the King Lutheran Church located at 17195 Cleveland Road, South Bend. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:30 AM with Pastor Teri Peterson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request all memorial contributions be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. located at 111 Sunnybrook Court South Bend, IN. 46637 or

AIDS Ministries - AIDS Assist of North Indiana located at 201 S. William St., South Bend, Indiana 46601.

On Children

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
