ALZHEIMER’S POEM

Do not ask me to remember,

Don’t try to make me understand.

Let me rest and know you’re with me,

Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.

I’m confused beyond your concept,

I’m sad and sick and lost.

All I know is that I need you,

To be with me at all costs.

Do not lose your patience with me,

Do not scold or curse or cry

I can’t help the way I’m acting

I can’t be different though I try.

Just remember that I need you,

That the best of me is gone.

Please don’t fail to stand beside me,

Love me till my life is done.

There will be no visitation or services, with burial to be private at Southlawn Cemetery.

My genuine condolences to the families of Mary Stockton…..

I am a stranger who was inspired by Mrs. Stockton’s obituary. Her picture reflects much happiness in her life. The poem especially moved me and provided a new prospective about Alzheimer.

My grandmother passed many years ago with Alzheimer’s and now my father may or may not have early signs. Your poem will be saved and shared with my family for when the time possibly comes with our father.

“Thank you for including the heartfelt poem that is filled with hope and continued love to encourage a different type of relationship with someone so special.”
