Alan L. Stoneburner, 65, of Walkerton, passed away during the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 5th at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Plymouth.
Alan was born in Pana, Illinois to Harry and Ethel Stoneburner on August 29, 1959. He was an area resident for most of his life. Alan started out his meat cutting career at Heinkel's in Decatur, IL. He later worked at Kroger for 25+ years and finished his career at Martin's. On March 17, 2011, he married Dawn Garrison in South Bend. He enjoyed bird watching, hunting, fishing, watching Nascar and loved to cook, yet his favorite thing to do was to spend quality time with his loving family.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Stoneburner, along with his children, Nicole M. (Andrew) Farkas of Knox, Jeremy L. (Sarah) Stoneburner of Plymouth, Joshua K. (Emme) Stoneburner of New Mexico, and step-daughter, Andrea (Ryan) Henson of North Liberty. He was the proud grandfather of 14 (Brian, Joseph, Gracie, Zeke, Piper, Joshua II, Link, Lisa Marie, Jean, Zaylie, Kenny, Zhain and Caden). Alan is also survived by his sister, Shawn (Jerry) Perkins of Decatur, IL and his brother, Michael Stoneburner of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Carol Howard, and grandson, Wyatt Stoneburner.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 3:00pm in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Rd. 23, South Bend, IN 46614. Friends may visit with Alan's family from 1:00 until the service time. He will be laid to rest at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Alan's name to Riley Children's Foundation, P. O.
