On May 28th, Alice Lucille Moore passed away of natural causes surrounded by her loved ones. Her final days were spent saying goodbye to her many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She told everyone that she had a wonderful life with no regrets. Her final wish for everyone was “Enjoy your lives.”
Alice was born on January 15, 1930, to John and Angeline Mleczko in Chicago, Illinois and moved with the family to rural Monterey, Indiana as a young girl. On September 9, 1950, she married the love of her life, Robert Lee Moore. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2006. They moved to Walkerton in 1954, where she worked as a telephone operator while starting their family of six children… Debora (William) Yergler of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Diana (Dick) Pippenger of Walkerton, Donna (Bill) Flaugher of Walkerton, Robert Jr. (Gina) Moore of Culver, Indiana, Richard (Judy) Moore of Plymouth, and Becky (Troy) Gill of Mishawaka. She was the proudest grandmother of Angeline, Christopher, Todd, Jason, Stephanie, Robert, Alexandrea, Matthew, Benjamin, Samuel, Joshua, Elizabeth, and Isaac. Alice was also the proud great grandmother of 13 and great-great grandmother of two.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 30th from 4:00 until 7:00pm EST in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 1216 Roosevelt Rd., Walkerton, Indiana. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm EST in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am EST Friday, May 31st in the St. Patrick Catholic Church of Walkerton. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s name to either St. Patrick Catholic Church, 807 Tyler St., Walkerton or Center for Hospice Care, North Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN.
