Allan D. “Rocky” Rockhill, 94, of South Bend, passed away at Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 6th, with his loving family by his side, following a sudden illness.
Rocky was born in Bourbon, IN to the late Amos H. and Oliva (Carmean) Rockhill on May 8th, 1927.
In 1949, he married Wave L. Thompson, who passed away in 1992. In 1993, Rocky married Sherry Pauline Trok. The Rockhill and Trok families had been longtime friends. She survives along with his children, Terry L. (David) Johnson, his son, Jeffery A. Rockhill, and his step children, Lisa K. (David) Sexton, Brandon D. Trok, Gregg A. Trok and 9 loving grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and his brother, Donald (Virginia) Rockhill. Rocky and Sherry had a wonderful life together for 28 years, walking over Mackinac Bridge on Labor Day, cruises and enjoying the outdoors with RV together with their families.
Rocky served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was Honorably discharged. He was proud to have served this great nation. He came to this area from Etna Green and became a supervisor in tool and tie design at Capital Technologies, retiring in 1991. He had a great interest in radio control cars, building boats, go-carts and dune buggies. Time being with his loving family and grandkids became his top priority. Allan belonged to the Pioneer Car Club, the South Bend Pistol Club, Tri-Valley RC Club, Bowlers Country Club and the Westside Church of Christ.
