Barbara A. (Deal) Balsley

  Barbara A. Balsley, 85, of North Liberty passed away Sunday, January 24th at Memorial Hospital, South Bend following an extended illness.

  On May 24th 1935 Barbara was born in Lancaster, Ohio to Harry E. and Edna M. (Lescalleet) Deal. In 1990 she moved to the Michiana area from Columbus, Ohio. She married Robert R. Balsley in Koontz Lake on November 4th 2000. Robert passed away May 25th 2020.

  Barbara is survived by her sons Lee (Edna) Morton of Grovertown, IN and Ed Morton of Phoenix, AZ, her grandchildren Zach (Kristin), Anthony, Jarryd (Brandee), Andrew (Toria) and Danielle, her great-grandchildren Isaiah, Matthew, and Lucy. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law’s Julie of Texas and Kathy Morton of Augusta, MI. Barbara is also survived by her step-children, Tanya (Scott) Johnson and Vaughn (Alyssa) Balsley, both of North Liberty.She was proceeded in death by her son, Jay Morton and her two brothers George and Harry Deal.

  Barbara retired as a Registered Nurse from St. Paul’s Retirement Community in South Bend. In her spare time, she enjoyed birds, flowers, Big Band music, Christian music and traveling in her younger years.

  Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to Potato Creek Nature Center or the American Legion Post 365 in North Liberty, IN.

  Barbara’s visitation will be held Friday, January 29th from 1-2p.m. at Hanley & Sons Funeral Home “Walkerton Chapel”. The funeral service will take place at 2p.m. with Pastor Brian Baughman, burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in North Liberty.
