Barry M. Close, 69, of South Bend passed away Wednesday November 19th at Memorial Hospital.
He was born on September 16, 1945 in Confluence, PA to the late George and Hazel (Rugg) Close.
Barry is survived by one daughter, Margaret A. Rzepczynski; one son, Barry W. Carver; two brothers, George “Art” (Sandy) Close of North Liberty and James (Sheri) Close of South Bend; two nieces, Dawn Close and Lisa Makie and one step-nephew, Ron (Karla) Baker.
Barry proudly served his county in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired from Bendix Corp in 1998 with more than 30 years of service as a Machinist. He was a member of the American Legion Post 365 and the VFW Post 1954 both in North Liberty, were he liked spending time with his friends. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Barry’s wishes were to be cremated and his family has honored his wishes. Burial at Westlawn Cemetery in North Liberty will be held at a later date.
