Bonna Lightsey Obituary

Bonna Lou Lightsey, 85, of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away in the late evening of Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Ernestine M. Raclin House, due to a brief illness.

Bonna was born in Lima, Ohio on June 16, 1941, to the late Albert Dale Candler and Edna Mae (Rudd) Candler-Collins.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Lavone Lightsey, and by her brother, Robert Candler.

Bonna was a loving homemaker who found great joy spending time with her family, whom she loved the whole wide world. Bonna was a good Christian woman who was very devoted, and was active in her home church. While living in Florida she ran Bonna's Harbortown Café, and she enjoyed clay shooting at Quail Creek. Some of her favorite activities included spending time with her many friends, shopping, and keeping busy with all kinds of crafts, sewing, and crocheting.

Bonna is survived by her children, Louis (Lisa) Kujawski Jr. of Hope, Indiana, Brian (Cheri) Kujawski of Niles, Michigan, and Christine (James) Florkowski of South Bend, Indiana. She was the proud Nana of Ashley Florkowski, Allison (Andrew) Laubkowski, Cortney Florkowski, Weston (Jillian) Kujawski, Madisen (Kameron) Slaven, Andrew (Ana) Kujawski, and great-Nana of Gia and Parker Kujawski. She also leaves behind her dog, Bella, who brought her years of joy and companionship.

The family is following Bonna’s wishes to be cremated with no services.  She will be laid to rest in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, next to her husband, Elbert.

In memory of Bonna, donations can be made to Ernestine M. Raclin House, Center for Hospice Care.
