Brian Rotruck Obituary

Brian E. Rotruck, 67, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Memorial Hospital.

Brian was born on September 5, 1956, in South Bend, to the late Peter and Margaret (Toone) Rotruck.  He grew up in the area and was a graduate of Jackson High School.  On May 3, 1986, he married Mary Kahlmorgan in South Bend.  They shared 38 wonderful years of marriage together.  He was employed at Casteel Construction Corporation for 30 years as a foreman.

Brian was an avid hunter.  He belonged to Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited groups, along with the NRA.  He loved his Labrador Retriever dogs and enjoyed training them for the next big hunt.  His favorite place to go was the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where he also enjoyed fishing.  Brian also liked to cook, especially his favorite food, chicken.  His happiest moments were spending time with Mary, his family and numerous friends.

Brian is survived by his wife, Mary Rotruck of South Bend, his stepson, Wayne (Wendy) Flora, III, of Walkerton, his three grandchildren, Hannah (Ashley) Schroeder, Makayla (Shea) Locsi, and Wayne Flora, IV, and three great-grandchildren, Dolly Locsi, Jolene Locsi, and Asher Schroeder.  He is also survived by his brothers, David W. (Linda) Rotruck and Glen A. Rotruck both of South Bend and by his niece, Amanda (Philip) Klein and nephew, John Rotruck (Kimberly Linner).

Brian’s family is following his wishes to be cremated.  There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church, 24535 Roosevelt Road, South Bend, IN 46614.  There will be a private burial at Sumption Prairie Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions, in honor of Brian, can be made to Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church, The Pet Refuge, 4626 S.
