Bryan Wade Miner, 84, of South Bend and Lake Placid, Florida, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, July 9th at home with his loving family by his side.
Bryan was born in St. Joseph County to Dwight Lee and Elizabeth Rose Miner on February 20, 1942. On June 22, 1963, he married the love of his life Shirley. They shared sixty-three years together, and raising their children Randi Downhour and Russell Wade Miner both of South Bend. Bryan was the proud grandfather of Sarah Downhour and Zachary Miner both of South Bend, and the great grandfather of Colson and Levi Miner. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Sovinsky of Fishers, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandchildren, Bryanna Rose Downhour (1996) and Corey Bryan Downhour (2011) and his siblings, Loraine Kikly, Denise Sleppy, Dwight Miner and Merlin Miner.
Bryan was a proud truck driver, having owned his own rigs and also working as a Teamster Driver. He also worked at AM General. He was the “Ultimate Handyman”, enjoyed haggling deals at garage sales or flea markets. Bryan would make the deal even if he had numerous of the items as long as he got a great deal. He was an avid NASCAR fan though the years. As a dedicated husband, dad and grandfather, his greatest joy came from being with his family.
A Memorial service honoring Bryan’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 15th from 4:00 until 6:00pm at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Road 23, South Bend. As per his wishes cremation is to take place with burial at a later date.
