Candace Berndt Obituary

  Candace E. Berndt, 73, passed away in her home on September 6th following an extended illness.

  Candace was born on February 16, 1948 to the late Rev. Duane E. Dickson and Helen J. (Hummer) Myers in Indiana.

  Candace is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Baker of South Bend, Jason (Melissa) Baker of Plymouth and Jared (Shannon) Baker of Simi Valley, CA, six (6) grandchildren, one (1) great-grandchild, her brother, Donnie Paul Dickson of Bremen, IN and the lifetime love of her life, Donald Berndt of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gerald Dickson in 2001.

  She was a social worker for over forty (40) years, a case manager for challenged or mentally and physically challenged, which she enjoyed greatly. In her spare-time she enjoyed sewing, TV shows, works of art, but especially loved being with her loving family.

  The family of Candace would like memorial contributions be made to Logan Center, 2505 East Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615.

   The family will have a Celebration of Candace's Life service and visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, Wednesday, September 15th and at 5:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home " Southwest Chapel", 23421 State Road 23/West Ireland Road. The memorial service will beginat 5:00 PM with Pastor Larry Hanson officating. Cremation has taken place, Candace will be at laid rest with her family at Twin City Cemetery in Pennsville, IN.

    The HANLEY and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Service handled arrangements and extends its sympathy and heartfelt prayer to Candance’s family and friends.
