Carol E. (Hass) Ruff, 88, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was born on May 31, 1935, in Three Oaks, Michigan, to the late John and Eva (Akin) Hass. On December 29, 1962, in Three Oaks, she married Patrick N. Ruff Sr., who survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Lisa (Brian) Bishop of South Bend, by her sons, John Ruff of Denver, CO, and Patrick (Angie) Ruff, Jr. of Mishawaka and by twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Kirk Ruff, and by her sisters, Jean Crockett and Shirley Hoadley.
Carol was a loving homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending as much time with them as she could. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid book reader. She also liked a good challenging crossword puzzle. Carol had strong Catholic faith and was a Eucharistic minister at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Parish and was an active Cursillo member.
Carol’s family is following her wishes to be cremated. There will be a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Parish, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615 where friends may visit one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Carol, can be made to the Center for Hospice, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, In 46545, to St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Parish, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615 and to Right to Life Michiana, 2004 Ironwood Circle, South Bend, IN 46635.
