Catherine M. Lawler, 71, of Grovertown, IN passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, in her home with her loving family by her side, following an extended illness.
Catherine was born in Chicago, IL on May 12, 1951, to the late Thomas R. and Florence J. (Coda) Comiso. On October 31, 1970, in Chicago, she married Joseph L. Lawler, Sr. Joe passed away on March 19th, 2005. Catherine is survived by her daughters: Donna M. (Jon) Banks of Walkerton, Marguerite E. (Clinton)Bradley of Grovertown, Joanne M. (Jeremy) Rybe of LaPort, Carrie A. (Justin) Wilton of North Liberty and her sons: Joseph L. (Brandy) Lawler, Jr of Angola and Christopher J. (Megan) Lawler of Walkerton along with 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Catherine is also survived by her sisters: Carol (Jerome) McCarthy, Georgeann (Frank) LaSordo, Carrie (Frank) Worth, her brothers, Thomas (Mary) and James (Patricia) Comiso all of Chicago, IL. Preceding Catherine in death was her parents, husband, Joe, daughter, Tina M. Lawler in 1972 and her sister, Janice LaPort in 2021.
Catherine was employed at Swan Lake Country Club of over 15 years as a housekeeper, where she enjoyed being around the guests. Her greatest joys were being a good mother, grandmother and being with her loving family.
The family wants to give a special thanks to Tara, the hospice nurse, for caring for Catherine and showing love, care and compassion.
Visitation for Catherine will be on Monday, January 2nd, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. (EST) at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Walkerton Chapel” located at 1206 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton, with a Rosary to be said at 8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on January 3rd, at 12:00 P.M. (EST) at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hamlet with Fr. Anthony L. Spanley officiating. Visitation will also be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Grovertown Cemetery. A luncheon will follow burial at Grovertown Conservation Club.
