Cindy M. Maynard, 67, of Fortville, Indiana, passed away after a brief illness on August 15, 2024, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born on January 6, 1957, in South Bend, Indiana, Cindy was the daughter of Robert G. and Theresa "Terri" (Tirotta-McCartney) McKamey. She had a passion for bowling, fishing, and online video games, and was a devoted fan of tv and movies, able to quote nearly every line from The Breakfast Club and remember every episode of Friends. Recently, she was fascinated with the Bridgerton series and all things British. Cindy loved music and could often be heard singing along to her favorites, Cher, Gloria Estefan, and The Bee Gees. Above all, Cindy cherished time spent with her family, delighting in the celebrations of Christmas, her favorite holiday.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Michelle M. (Shane) Nelson of Cassopolis, Michigan, and her four beloved grandchildren: Shantell, Kevin, Triston, and Kade. She was also a proud great-grandmother of two. In addition, she is survived by her siblings, Robert McCartney, Dennis (Sharon) McCartney, Ramona Smith of Fortville, and Robin (Greg) O'Toole of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Cindy was a loving aunt to Gary McCartney, Jr., Cameron McCartney, Brandi Smith, and Cassie Payne, and great aunt to Grayson and many others. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Gary McCartney in 2014 and Thomas McCartney in 2021.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Cindy's life on Wednesday, August 21, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, located at 23421 State Road 23, South Bend. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22, at 11:00 AM in the funeral chapel. Cindy will be laid to rest at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cindy's name to assist with final expenses.
