Craig Reed Obituary

November 23 around 2 am, Craig Alan Reed I passed away peacefully in his sleep at his mother’s home. He fought a long hard battle, but he now has peace.

Craig was born June 12, 1950, to James and Audrey (Finley) Reed in LaPorte, IN. He lived at Koontz Lake as a child and then moved with his parents and brother Kerry, to Walkerton.

When he lived at Koontz Lake, two of his aunts lived right in a row next to his family. The cousins all grew up to be like siblings. The closeness is still there today.

Everyone who knew Craig (Craiger's for his Niles peeps) loved him. He was a giving, caring soul. Once he was your friend, it was for life. He loved hard and cared so deeply. He was a funny guy. He kept that humor right up to the end making us laugh several times throughout the day.

Craig is survived by his mother, Audrey Reed, his son Craig (Shelly) Reed II, his granddaughter Carly Reed and his grandson Cadyn Reed.

He also leaves behind nephews, Brandon and Eric and nieces Nicole and Jenny and their families, his Uncle Ben and his Aunt Nellie and many, many special cousins who were as close as siblings to him. He leaves behind more friends than we can list. His friends and family were so important to him. He was preceded in death by his father James and brother Kerry.

Craig was a collector, a couple of the things he liked to collect were menus from all the restaurants he had been to over the years. He also liked to comb the sand on the beach for special treasures.

Craig’s big talent was making stained glass. His imagination was endless and his talent amazing. Just about everyone who knew him has a piece or two made by him.

Memorial contributions may be made in Craig's name to the family, to help with expenses, Treasure Chest, Box 736, 105 West Center Street, North Liberty, IN 46554 or Presbyterian Thrift Shop, 724 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton, IN 46574.

Craig will be missed beyond measure. His wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

The HANLEY and Sons Funeral Home “Walkerton Chapel” handled arrangements and extents its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to Craig’s family and friends.
