Deborah M. (Chapman) DeKnikker

Deborah M. (Chapman) DeKnikker, 68, of Goshen, passed into eternal rest on Sunday, August 27, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family.

Deborah was born on March 23, 1955, in South Bend, to the late Virgil D. and Catherine (Sills) Chapman.  She married Bert A. DeKnikker on November 27, 1993, in South Bend, and they remained lifelong residents to the area. Deborah retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as a Paralegal Secretary.  She like spending her time crafting, reading, and listening to good music.  She also enjoyed cooking for her family and spending as much time with them as she could.

Deborah is survived by her husband, Bert A. DeKnikker of Goshen, by her stepdaughter, Miranda DeKnikker of New York, by her stepson, Joshua DeKnikker of New York, and by six grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Christopher Chapman of South Bend, by her nieces, Destiny Keele and Brandy Huff and also by her nephews, Jeremiah Chapman, Virgil Chapman and Brandon Chapman.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tim Chapman. 

Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home-Southwest Chapel, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614.  There will be a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in Hanley and Sons Funeral Home-Southwest Chapel with burial following at Southlawn Cemetery.
