Deborah VanArsdale Obituary

Deborah A. VanArsdale, 70, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side during the evening hours of Saturday, November 27th.

Deborah was born in South Bend on December 15, 1950, to Raymond J. and Evelyn (Ewaszka) Schmidt. On February 26, 1972, she married the love of her life, Robert G. VanArsdale, in South Bend. She retired from Teachers Credit Union, where she worked in the Mortgage Dept.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Adalbert Catholic Church of South Bend. Deborah enjoyed reading, traveling, and going to car shows, yet her greatest joy came from being with family.

Deborah is survived by her loving husband, Robert, along with their two sons, Robert G. (Jennifer) VanArsdale, Jr., of Macomb, MI and Ryan M. (Wendy) VanArsdale of Mishawaka. She was the proud grandma of Reed, Owen and Matthew. Deborah is also survived by her sister, Rebecca S. Wetzel of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and her brother, James A. Schmidt.

Deborah’s family wishes to thank all the staff, nurses and doctors at Michiana Hematology Oncology for all the care and support.

As per her wishes, there will be no services scheduled at this time. Cremation is to take place with her final resting place to be Fairview Cemetery of Mishawaka. Hanley and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Celebration of life ceremony will be scheduled at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in Deborah’s name to the River Bend Cancer Services, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615.
