Denise Carey

Denise (Karchella) Carey, 68, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in her home from an extended illness.

Denise was born on November 1, 1954 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania to the late William and Stella (Giebien) Karchella.  In 1992, she moved to the South Bend area from Pennsylvania.  On April 9, 1999, she married Roger L. Carey in Three Rivers, MI.  Denise was a loving homemaker and a wonderful wife.  She enjoyed painting, working in the yard gardening, and spending time in the kitchen cooking meals.  She was also an ordained minister.

Denise is survived by her husband, Roger L. Carey of South Bend, by her stepson Joshua (Holly) Carey of Charleston, WV, and by two step-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a sister, Kathy Dalbo of Canonsburg, PA, and by a brother, Brian Karchella of Florida.  She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother, Billy Karchella.

Denise’s family is following her wishes to be cremated.  The family will have a celebration of Denise’s life at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to her family to help offset any final expenses.
