Donald Bessler, Sr. Obituary

    Donald A. Bessler, Sr., 79, of North Liberty, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, June 22nd at Majestic Care of Ft. Wayne after an extended illness. Don was born in LaPorte, IN to Clyde Bessler and Irene (Meyer) Scheffer on January 14, 1942.

    He loved his country and was very proud to served in the United States Marine Corp, during the Vietnam Era. He was the former owner of Bessler Chevrolet of New Carlisle. On May 4, 1991 he married Donna A. Banacki. Don enjoyed wood working and gardening. He loved Purdue Football, was an avid Indianapolis 500 and Nascar fan, yet his greatest joy came from being with his family. Don made numerous friends during his life journey, during his ownership of Besslers and his sales career yet made sure his family always came first.

          Don is survived by his loving wife, Donna, his children, Tanya (Eric) Roach of Wheatfield, IN, Tara (Timothy) Newby of Tarpon Springs, FL, Donald A. (Charyl) Bessler, Jr. of Boatsville, IN. He was the extremely loving proud grandfather of six, Anne Marie, Brian, Cassidy, Cameron, Connor, and Alex; and great grandfather of 2 great granddaughters.

          A public visitation will take place on Monday, June 28th from 10 until Noon, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Road 23, South Bend. A private graveside will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association. Alz.org
