Donald A. Spalding

Donald A. Spalding 70, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, October 10th at Center  for Hospice Care, following an extended illness, with his loving family by his side.

 Don was born in South Bend on June 2, 1949 o the Lowell H. and Rose M. (Bonjorno) Spalding.

 On November 21, 2015, he married Samantha Spencer, in South Bend. Samantha survives along with his mother, Rose, daughter, Dawn M. (Peter) Nork of Kansas City, MO, a loving granddaughter, Rose Evangeline Nork, two sisters, Janet A. (Mike) Spalding of Osceola and Karen A. Spalding-Mayer-Baltis of Plymouth, IN, and two nieces and two nephews. Don was preceded in death by his father, Lowell H. Spalding.

 Don retired in 1999 from the South Bend Fire Department. Since retiring he enjoyed garage sales, antique cars, old movies, History Channel and classic rock and roll. He was a member of the South Bend Firefighters Local Union #362.

 A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held on Sunday, October 20th, at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel” located at 23421 State Road 23/West Ireland Road, South Bend, from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M., with no formal service.

 Cremation has taken place, per Don’s wishes.
