Dorothy D. (Kozlowski) Moore, 78, of South Bend, passed into eternal rest on Monday, May 29, 2023, in her home from an extended illness.
Dorothy was born on May 4, 1945 in South Bend, to the late Bert A. and Julia V. (Rojics) Kozlowski. Dorothy remained a lifelong resident to the area. On December 13, 1974, in Niles, Michigan, she married Sidney Moore, Jr. They spent 41 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on February 15, 2016. In 2016, Dorothy retired as the secretary at Astar Inc. plastic molding company. She kept herself busy with many hobbies like collecting unique glassware and crocheting. She also enjoyed going bowling and trying her luck at the casino. She was a big fan of Kid Rock’s music and was a member of the Kid Rock Fan Club. Dorothy’s happiest moments were spent with her loving family.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Rick A. Modlin (Cherie A. Bittle) of Niles, also by two grandchildren, Ryan A. Modlin of Niles, and Brittany D. (Jesse) Williams of Niles, by four great-grandchildren (3 girls and one boy), and by two stepdaughters, Cynthia K. Granlee of Bakersfield, CA and Connie M. (Tom) Porter of Tubac, AZ, by 14 step-grandchildren and 25 step-great grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Julie Vance of Brevort, Michigan and by three brothers, Bert A. Kozlowski of Eugene, Oregon, Carl A. Kozlowski of Mishawaka, and Michael D. Kozlowski of South Bend. Dorothy is also survived by her acquired son, Todd Sheperd (Lori Myers-Weilers) of South Bend. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a stepdaughter, Christina Williams, a sister, Marie Lambert, and by a brother, Robert N. Kozlowski.
Friends may gather from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4th, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel”, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday June 5, 2023 in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel”, with Pastor Vito Rulli officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy’s name to ProMedica Hospice, 230 W. Catalpa Dr. Suite D, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
