Edward F. Van Lue, Jr.

Edward Francis Van Lue, Jr., 83, of New Carlisle, passed away on the morning of Friday, November 14, 2025, in his home with his family by his side. 

Edward was born on August 28, 1942, in LaPorte, Indiana, to the late, Edward F. and Jeanette A. (Macias) Van Lue, Sr.  On January 11, 1964, he married Yvette M. Kaluzny in St. Stevens Catholic Church of South Bend.   They remained lifelong residents to the area.  In 1966, Edward proudly enlisted in the United States Army.  After serving his country, he began farming land, and he also worked at Ashland Chemical in South Bend, along with working various other jobs.  As a lover of the outdoors, he would go hunting for deer or elk, fishing, and would anxiously wait for the snow fall so he could go snowmobiling.  He always stayed very active even if it was just tinkering in his pole barn.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 297 and PNA Post 3078 of New Carlisle.  His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family and numerous friends.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Yvette M. Van Lue of New Carlisle, his daughter, Allysia (Jeff) Wilcox of New Carlisle, and by his adored grandchild, Taylor H. Blackston of New Carlisle.  He is also survived by his nephews, Scott (Tamie) Van Lue, John (Dana) Van Lue, and Daniel (Jen) Van Lue, along with several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and a nephew.

Along with his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Floyd E. Van Lue on October 7, 2025.

The family is following Edward’s wishes to be cremated.  Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with military honors to be given at 4:00 p.m.  There will be a dinner afterwards at the American Legion Post 357, 5414 West Sample St., South Bend.  In honor of Edward memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 297 of New Carlisle.
