Eugene I. Petill, 92, of Lakeville, passed into eternal life on the morning of Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Miller’s Merry Manor from an extended Illness.
Eugene was born on March 6, 1931, in Plainwell, Michigan, to the late Edward and Annabelle (Tackman) Petill. On March 10, 1950, in South Bend, he married the love of his life, Lyda M. Howard. They shared 72 years of marriage together until her passing on March 19, 2022. They were lifelong residences to the area. Eugene was a self-employed builder remodeling homes. When he wasn’t doing home improvements, he would be in his yard gardening or traveling the country. Eugene loved the Lord and he always looked forward to attending church. He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his family as much as he could.
Eugene is survived by his sons, Ted I. (Fedra) Petill of Plantation, Florida and Matthew P. Petill of Dayton, Ohio. He was the grandfather to three loving grandchildren, Candice, Tiffany and Angie and a great grandfather of two. He is also survived by his two sisters, Marilyn (Keith) Berkley of San Francisco, CA, and Mary McDaniels of South Bend and by his brother, Roger (Jan) Petill of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lyda M. Petill, by his son Edward E. Petill, and by his sisters, Tula Hoesel and Delores Sprinkles.
The family would like to thank the staff of Miller’s Merry Manor, in Plymouth, for the love and care they gave to Eugene.
