George Ossery, 70, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at I. U. Health University Hospital from an extended illness.
George was born on July 26, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late George P. Ossery and Katherine E. (Steker) McFetter. George was retired for 25 years from Aero Pest Control as a Service Technician. He enjoyed watching sports and kept true to his Ohio roots cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State University teams. He also had a passion for old cars. From 1990-2000 he was an active member of the Mishawaka F.O.P. lodge #91 and took interest in Civil Defense and Special Police duties. George’s greatest joy was spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.
George is survived by his three daughters, Michelle L. Quickery of South Bend, Tammy L. Quickery-Davis of Melbourne, FL and Shawn A. Quickery of Melbourne, FL and by his four loving grandchildren, Logan Davis, Erica Yuhas, Mackencie Quickery, and Macayla Quickery and two great-grandchildren. His is also survived by his ex-wife Kathi L. Ossery and his two sisters, Barbara B. Morrison of Scranton, PA and Pat Pikes of Chicago, IL. George is preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Michael Ossery.
There will be a funeral service on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home-Southwest Chapel, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614. Friends may gather from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to honor George can be made to the Mishawaka F.O.P. Lodge #91, 1825 E. 12th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
