George "Art" Close Obituary

George A. “Art” Close,77, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully at his home on December 7th with his loving wife Sandra by his side.

  Art was born in Confluence, PA on March 20, 1941 to the late George Wesley and Hazel A. (Rugg) Close.

 On February 14, 1984, in South Bend, Art married Sandra I. (Beaulieu) Close. Sandy survives along with their daughters, Dawn Close of North Liberty and Lisa Maiki of South Bend and step-son, Ronald (Karla) Baker, Jr. of South Bend and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His brother, James (Sherry) Close of South Bend, and his beloved pet, Frosty.

  Art loved fishing, NASCAR, traveling to visit family in Florida and spending time with his grandchildren.

  He was a member of North Liberty VFW Post 1954 and North Liberty American Legion Post 365.

  Art proudly served in the United States Army, Viet Nam Era, as a weapons technician for four years.

  He retired from Walsh & Kelly Asphalt Company as a truck driver, after many years of service.

   The family honored Art’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or services.

   The HANLEY and Sons Funeral Home and Cremation Services handled arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Close family.
