Gregory E. Lubbers, 64, of Mishawaka, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 16th.
Greg was born on May 7, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan to Everett E. and Dorothy (Woolet) Lubbers. On July 24, 1999, he married Joyce A. Hawes. He retired from one of his loves, being an auto mechanic. He enjoyed motorcycles, golfing, going to the shooting range, yet his greatest joy was being with his family, especially his grandkids.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, his stepchildren, Cherish L. (Michael) Moats of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Bridget M. (Jeff) Breaux of Metairie, Louisiana, along with Dusty L. (Tabbitha) Wilson of Olney, Illinois. He was the proud grandfather of 10, and great grandfather of one. Greg is also survived by his parents, Everett and Dorothy (Woolet) Lubbers of South Bend and siblings, Faron (Diane) Lubbers and Becky (Jeff) Soule both of South Bend, and Carole (Ron) Neuenschwander of Bluffton, Indiana.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 20th from 4:00 until 8:00pm in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 SR 23, South Bend. A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00am, Friday, January 21st in the funeral chapel, with Pastor Josh Fisher officiating, friends may visit one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery of Mishawaka. Following the service, a fellowship luncheon will be held in Greg’s honor at the Hillside Missionary Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Greg’s name to the Ronald McDonald House- Memorial Hospital, 3rd Floor, 615 North Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
