Irene (Russo) Mead

Irene (Russo) Mead, 75, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 3, 2023, in her home. 

Irene was born on February 13, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Louis and Anna (Roitero) Russo.  She is survived by her daughter, Natalie (Chad) Flolo of Roswell, GA, and by her three sons, Mark Phillips of South Bend, Daniel (Josefina) Phillips of Sunland Park, NM, and Brian Phillips of South Bend and by her 3 loving grandchildren, Hannah Phillips, Cameron Flolo and Nora Flolo.  Irene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyle Mead, and by her brother, Ralph Russo. 

Irene kept herself busy with many hobbies.  She had a love for traveling and shopping.  She also enjoyed taking water aerobics classes.  Irene’s happiest moments were cooking meals for her family and spending time with her loving grandchildren. 

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN 46635 with Fr. William Orbih officiating.  Friends may visit one hour prior to service in the church chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Irene can be made to St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church.
