James M. Amundson, 78, of Grovertown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12th in North Manchester, Indiana.
James was born on June 1, 1945 in Ridgeway, Iowa to Olvin and Lorna E. (Green). Upon graduating High School he went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married the love of his life, Carol D. Haight, on January 9, 1965. The family moved to the Michiana area in 1972 from California. He started and ran IMI, Inc. Heavy Duty Truck Part Sales for 23years before his retirement. He was once the vice-president of Christian Community Pantry of Walkerton, A proud member and former officer of VFW #1954, and a member of the 1st Methodist Church of Walkerton. James loved to do yard work, yet his greatest joy came from being with his family.
James is survived by his loving wife, Carol Amundson, of Grovertown, along with his son, Eric J., Amundson of Grovertown. He was the proud grandfather of two, Zachary and Eric Amundson and great-grandfather of Rory Amundson. James is also survived by his siblings, Myrna Huckins of Cresco, Iowa, and Garry (Paula) Amundson, of Long Beach, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Sonja Holub and Sandra Brandt.
There will be a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Peace Lutheran Church, 745 County St., Ridgeway, Iowa 52165 with Pastor Nathan Wicks officiating. There will be a visitation two hours prior to service in the church. Burial will follow at Ridgeway Cemetery.
