James Hudson, Sr. Obituary

James R. Hudson, Sr., 75, of South Bend, passed away in his son’s residence on the early afternoon of Saturday, December 14th, surrounded by his family.

James was born on November 26, 1949, in South Bend, to Rolland and Marion Hudson.  On August 28, 1993, in Mishawaka, he married Tracy Rodgers.  She preceded him in death on October 5, 2023. James is survived by his two daughters, Amanda Y. Harradon of South Bend, and Ashley Y. (John) Kelley of South Bend and by his son James R. (Kylie) Hudson, Jr. and by his three loving grandchildren, Ashlyn Y. Harradon, Caprice E. Marshall, and John D. Kelley, Jr.  James is also survived by his siblings, Kathleen Davis and Jacqueline Derose, He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister, Janet Ruszkowski, along with his parents.

James was a loving husband, father and, his favorite title of all, a proud papa.  He loved spending time with his family and would help with any projects the family needed “real expertise”on. He worked for Trans Tech where he retired in 2006. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering around the house.  He also enjoyed building model cars and going to car shows with his brother-in-law, Tony Wisniewski, handing out Hot Wheels cars.  

James’ family is following his wishes to be cremated with a celebration of life to be planned by the family at a later date.  In honor of James, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
