Janet L. (Spier) Nichols, 81, passed away on Thursday, June 11th at Hospice House of St. Joseph County in South Bend, with her loving family nearby.
Janet was born on May 3, 1939, in LaPorte, IN to the late Frederick W. and Martha L. (Stahly) Spier, Jr.
On September 1, 1962 in North Liberty she married Bradley Damon Nichols. Damon survives along with their daughters, Sherri (Todd) Pippenger of Bourbon, IN, Denise Dominiack of Lakeville, IN and son, Greg (Lou) Zellers of Lakeville, IN. Janet leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Greg D. (Jessie) Zellers, Jr., Carrie (Dee) Peters, Andy (Katie) Zellers, Chasity (Chris) Adkins and Nathan Nichols-Petersen, along with seventeen loving great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Roger Spier and her first husband, Harold (Dean) Zellers.
Janet retired, after twenty-one years, at Tepe’s Department Store, MCL Cafeteria and Notre Dame Varsity Shop. Her hobbies included baking, canning, flowers, gardening, scrapbooking the many photos she took of her children and grandchildren, watching the birds, garage sales and especially being with her loving family.
Memorial contributions maybe made in Janet’s name to the Hospice House of St. Joseph County, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 16th at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Walkerton Chapel” 1216 Roosevelt Street, Walkerton, IN from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Tim Davis, officiating. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.
