Janet (Jan) L Selner, 89, passed away at her home in Fircrest, Washington on March 15, 2026 with family around her after an extended illness. Jan was born on May 5, 1936 in St. Joseph County, IN. She attended Greene School for all 12 years and graduated in 1954. On September 2, 1955, in South Bend, she married George Selner whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage with before his passing in 2013.
Jan is survived by five children, Lu Scott of Fircrest, WA, Lea (Mark) Shearer of South Bend, Alan (Linda) Selner of Bonita Springs, FL, Amy Selner of Nashville, NC, and Sally Selner - Kelly of Whitman, MA; seven grandchildren, Jake Scott, Sam (Jessa) Scott, Cindy Shearer, Zac Selner, Jenalea (David) Burnette, Michael Kelly and Kennedy Kelly; and five great-grandchildren.
After retirement, she lived in Bonita Springs, Florida for several years before making the move to Washington State. She was an avid Bridge player and a Life Master. She was the Director of multiple bridge tournaments in both Florida and Washington. She loved Notre Dame sports especially football. Her favorite hobby was interior decoration. She enjoyed decorating her houses and helping others with decorating ideas. Jan was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed!
There will be no visitation and a private burial service at Sumption Prairie Cemetery will be held at a later date.
