Jean Lucille (Buckmaster) Collings

Jean Lucille Collings, 88, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born in LaPorte, Indiana on May 14, 1936, to Clyde A. and Marie E. (Goethals) Buckmaster. A lifelong area resident, who married the love of her life, Norvan Collings, on June 6th 1953, in LaPorte, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2014. She was a housekeeper for over 40 years, worked at Kaser Auction Services for 34 years and on the North Liberty Ambulance for 11 years. She was a devote member of the First Baptist Church of North Liberty and was known to the oldest charter member.

Jean is survived by her loving children; Lynn (Jim) Ennis of Capon Bridge, West Virginia, Julie (Dale) Downey and Tami (Frank) Ennis both of Walkerton and John Collings of North Liberty. She was the proud grandma of 18, great grandmother of 50, and the great-great grandmother of 3. She is also survived by her sister, Ellen Thomas of LaPorte, and her brother, Ronald Buckmaster of Walkerton.  Jean was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Sue Root, and her son, Mark Collings.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 SR 23, South Bend, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, and one hour before the service.  A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 22nd in the funeral home, with Pastor Wayne Joyner officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Westlawn Cemetery in North Liberty. Memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the First Baptist Church of North Liberty, 407 Elm St., North Liberty, IN 46574.
