Kathleen Ann (Kondor) Waldron

Kathleen Ann Waldron, 90, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the evening of September 10th in Raclin House at Center for Hospice Care, with her loving family by her side.

Kathleen was born in South Bend on June 10, 1935, to Rudy and Kathleen (Hennessy) Kondor. She married Rick Waldron and had six children.  While raising them, she went back to college and received her bachelor’s degree in Special Education with High Distinction from Indiana University South Bend.  She then continued her education, receiving a master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame.  Kathleen was a Special Education teacher in the South Bend School Corporation.  She retired after 26 years, spending many wonderful years teaching at O’Brien and Jefferson Elementary schools.

Kathleen enjoyed reading and attending Notre Dame football games.  Her greatest joy came from spending time with her loving family.  She was a proud mom and grandma who loved seeing them smile and helped them reach for their dreams.

Kathleen is survived by her children; Mary (Dave) Orr of Anthem, AZ, Colleen (Mike) Bean, Patrick Waldron, and John Waldron of South Bend.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen, Nicole, Jaclyn, Sean, Jennifer, Taylor, and Courtney, along with three great grandchildren, Myla, Samantha and Emersyn.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, John, Jim, and Tom, as well as her two sons, Tom and Joe.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, September 18th from 11:30 a.m. until service time in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., with Fr. Timothy O’Connor officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her sons at the St. Joseph Cemetery of South Bend privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s name to Hospice Foundation / Raclin House Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
