Lawrence R. Manzer, 73, of South Bend, passed away in the evening of Sunday, May 19, 2024, in his home from an extended illness.
Larry was born on June 10, 1950, in South Bend, to the late Raymond H. and Jeanette M. (Mayle) Manzer. He grew up and remained a lifelong resident to the area. In 1969, he enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He later met the love of his love, Robin L. Jacobs, and they married on June 20, 1981, in South Bend. Larry worked in the Maintenance Department at Mack Tool & Engineering, Inc., in South Bend, where he eventually retired. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading books. He also was a NASCAR fan and a member of the Chain of Lakes Conservation Club. Most of all, Larry enjoyed his family time.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Robin L. Manzer of South Bend and by his granddaughter, Molly C. Manzer (Marty Friedman). He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher L. Manzer on August 15, 2004, and by his brother, Daniel J. Manzer.
It was Larry’s wishes to be cremated. There will be a funeral service at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home-Southwest Chapel, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614, where friends may visit with the family two hours prior to service. He will be laid to rest in Southlawn Cemetery at a later date. In honor of Larry, memorial contributions can be made to the Center for Hospice, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
