Louis Michael Kujawski Sr., 89, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday morning, May 14th.
Louis was born in South Bend, Indiana to Theodore and Mary (Duck) Kujawski on January 18, 1937. After graduating from South Bend Central High School he continued his education at Purdue University and graduated from Indiana University with a Masters degree in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. In adulthood, he sought a career in law enforcement. He proudly served the South Bend community as a member of the SBPD, from September of 1964 to March of 1986. He then went on to serve on the San Diego Police Department, from January of 1986 to January of 2000. After finally retiring he returned to the Michiana area. He was passionate about flying airplanes and dabbled in woodworking. In his years of retirement, he enjoyed drinking coffee and watching the news.
Louis is survived by his loving children; Louis (Lisa) Kujawski Jr. of Hope, Indiana, Brian (Cheri) Kujawski of Niles, Michigan, and Christine (James) Florkowski of South Bend, Indiana. His family grew to include his adopted sons, Christian Kujawski and Roman (Delicia) Kujawski, both of Freer, Texas. He was the proud grandfather of Ashley Florkowski, Allison (Andrew) Laubkowski, Cortney Florkowski, Weston (Jillian) Kujawski, Madisen (Kameron) Slaven, Andrew (Ana) Kujawski, Aviannah and Alianna Kujawski. He was the great-grandfather of Gia and Parker Kujawski. Louis’ sister, Fran (Lance) Clevenger of Noblesville, Indiana is also surviving. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Theodore, Thomas and Kenneth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St., South Bend with Fr. Andrew Budzinski officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the Mass. He will be laid to rest next to family in the Highland Cemetery of South Bend.
