Lucia B. (Bustamante) Flores

Lucia B. Flores, 84, of South Bend, passed away on Sunday, May 12th at home in the company of her loving family.

Lucia was born in Houston, Texas on July 17, 1939, to Gustavo Bustamante and Matilde Ramirez. In 1957, Lucia married the love of her life, Domingo R. Flores, Sr., in Sarasota Florida. They moved to the Michiana area in 1968 from Homestead, Florida. She was a devote parishioner at St. Adalbert Catholic Church of South Bend. She enjoyed cooking and being a mom to everyone she met. Lucia’s greatest joy came from being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She never grew out of her love for Minnie and Mickey Mouse.

Lucia is survived by her loving children, Josephine Flores, Arthur B. Flores, Jose Angel Flores of South Bend, Manuel Flores of Elkhart, Rodrigo Bermea of Houston, Texas, Pete Perez of South Bend and Christopher Flores of Niles, Michigan. She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother. Lucia is also survived by her brothers, Richard Bustamante of Edinburgh, Texas and Gustavo and Gonzalo Bustamante both of Houston, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Mary Jane Flores, two sons, Domingo Flores Jr. and Servando Flores, along with her four sisters.

Friends may visit with Lucia’s family on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4:00 until 8:00pm in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Road 23, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00AM Friday, May 17th at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace St., South Bend, IN 46619. She will be laid to rest following the Mass in the Sumption Prairie Cemetery of South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to her family through Christopher Flores c/o Hanley and Sons Funeral Home.
