Lyda M. Petill, 94, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19th in the Miller’s Merry Manor of Plymouth.
Lyda was born in Council Bluff, Iowa on May 23, 1927 to Harry and Lyda (Larson) Howard. On March 10, 1950 in South Bend, she married the love of her life, Eugene I. Petill. She formerly attended the Lakeside Baptist Church of Lakeville. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and gardening, yet her greatest joy was being with her family.
Lyda is survived by her loving husband, Gene, along with their three sons, Edward E. Petill of Marion, IN, Ted I. (Fedra) Petill of Plantation, FL, and Matthew P. Petill of Dayton, Ohio. She was the loving grandmother of three, Candice, Tiffany and Angie and great grandmother of two. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Dorothy, Flora, Nina, and Merle, along with her brother Paul.
Friends may visit from 10:00 until 11:00am Wednesday, March 23rd in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Rd. 23. A service celebrating her life will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Wyatt Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Porter Rae Cemetery in North Liberty.
