Marjorie F. Wood, 86, of North Liberty, passed away on Monday, December 12th in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka.
Marge was born in Michigan City, Indiana to Walter and Grace M. (Butler) Coursel on August 14, 1936. She married the love of her life, Harold “Woody” Wood, on November 28, 1952 in Corinth, Mississippi. They were blessed with over 60 years together, before his passing on October 26, 2016. She enjoyed sewing, birdwatching, catching up on her favorite tv shows, yet her greatest joy came from spending time being with her loving family.
Marge is survived by her loving children, Roseann M. (Herman) Williamson of Rolling Prairie, IN, Sandra J. Szucs of North Liberty, Laurel L. (Mark) Kiszka of North Liberty and Charles A. (Cathryn) Wood of New Carlisle. She was the proud grandmother of 13, Cortney Metcalf, Melissa Ripley, Elizabeth Rassi, Kari, Susan, and John Szucs, Katie Strakowski, Matthew, Gloria, Tammy and Derik Williamson, Nathan and Audra Kiszka. Marge was also the great grandmother of 18. She is also survived by her siblings, Helen Berndt of Valparasio, Wallace (Pat) Coursel and Alfred (Cookie) Jumche, both of Laporte. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Mary Haskins, Bertha Harper and Margaret Lewis, her brothers, Robert, Albert and Fred Coursel, and her son-in-law John Szucs.
Friends may visit with Marge’s family on Friday, December 16th from 1:00pm until service time in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 State Road 23, South Bend. A service celebrating Marge’s life will be held at 3:00PM, with Pastor Tim Stewart officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Sumption Prairie Cemetery of South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made in Marge’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
