Maxine (Howard) Miller

Maxine Miller, 70, of Knox, passed into eternal life on Monday, October 14, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family. 

Maxine was born on January 23, 1954, in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Manuel and Aileen (Smith) Howard.  She moved to the area when she was a child.  On November 20, 1971, in South Bend, she married the love of her life, James Miller. He survives along with their children, Christina (Christopher) Stoll, of Knox, Julie Miller and James Miller, Jr., both of South Bend.  She was the proud grandmother to Jessica Blaze, Ashley (Trent) Bowman, Christopher Blaze, Borias Miller, Solan Miller, James Miller, III, Jasmine Landas, Cheyenne Miller, Savannah (Phillip) Smith, and Cynthia (Zeth) Wolfenbarger and a great-grandmother to seventeen.    She is also survived by her brothers, Paul (Julie) Howard of Bremen, and Roger Howard of Wellington, KY. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Phyllis Howard, Vickie Sue Howard, Ethel Howard and Orville Wayne Howard. 

Maxine enjoyed doing crafts and quilting.  She had a musical talent and liked to sing songs while playing the banjo or piano.  She also enjoyed shopping trips to Goodwill.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21st, in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home-Southwest Chapel, 23421 S. R. 23, South Bend, IN 46614, where friends may visit with the family on Sunday, October 20th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and two hours prior to service.  She will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery, in North Liberty, with a dinner to follow at Ireland Church of God, 16555 E. Ireland Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
