Michael D. Clingenpeel, 65, of North Liberty, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 17th at Memorial Hospital, South Bend with his family by his side.
He was born on May 26, 1951 in LaPorte, IN to the late Don W. and Marie (Stombaugh) Clingenpeel. He was a Michiana area resident all his life, retiring from Wells Aluminum, North Liberty after 35 years of service as a Truck Driver.
On July 26, 1969 in Nappanee, IN he married Sharon J. Weldy who survives.
Mike is also survived by his daughter, Lisa A. (Jeremy) Brooks of South Bend, four grandchildren, Michael S. and Casey L. Holderread and Sophia G. and Emma R. Brooks, a sister-in-law, Janice Bella of North Liberty and brother-in-law, Gary (Evelyn) Weldy of South Bend.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela “Angie” Holderread on October 8, 2015.
When his daughters were younger he coached their North Liberty Youth Girls Softball Team. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing, watching Notre Dame Football and spending time with his family.
He was member of the North Liberty RC Club and truly loved building and flying his RC planes with all the club members at his house.
Mike was quiet sole with a witty sense of humor, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel” located at State Rd 23/W. Ireland Rd, South Bend. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Jason Brooks officiating. Burial will take place at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend.
