Nancy K. (Spencer) Smith

  Nancy K. Smith, 73, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly on August 4th in Memorial Hospital of South Bend.

    Nancy was born in South Bend on September 2, 1950, to Joseph W. and Mary Ann (Tirotta) Spencer. She was a life-long area resident. On December 5, 1970, she married the love of her life, Patrick E. Smith, Sr. She was a proud homemaker making sure her family came first. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved her dogs, yet her greatest joy came from being with her loving family and friends.

    Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Patrick, along with their children, Patrick E. (Kellie) Smith, Jr., of New Carlisle and Ann M. Smith of Cassopolis, Michigan. She was the proud grandmother of 6; Kylee, Krystan, Aaron, Jayda, Paige and Lance. Nancy is also survived by her sisters; Sharon Terry and Pamela Forizs both of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Mary Ann Medlin and Joan Spencer.

    Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 8th from 4:00 until 8:00pm in the Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, 23421 SR 23, South Bend, IN 46614. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9th at 11:00am with Fr. Rybicki officiating. She will be laid to rest at a later date in Highland Cemetery of South Bend. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nancy’s family.
