Norvan "Zeb" Collings

Norvan “Zeb” Collings, 88, of North Liberty passed away at 2:25 AM on Thursday,

June 12th at Millers Merry Manor, Walkerton, IN.     

Zeb was born on July 25, 1925, in LaPorte County, IN to the late Grover and Violet (Cattron) Collings.  On June 6, 1953 in LaPorte, IN he married his loving wife of 61 years the former Jean L. Buckmaster, who survives. 

Zeb is also survived by three daughters; Lynn Marie (James) Ennis of Capon Bridge, WV, Tamara R. (Frank) Ennis and Julie A. (Dale) Downey, both of Walkerton, IN, two sons; Mark A. Collings of Lakeville, IN and John K. Collings of North Liberty, IN, one sister; Elouise Davidson of LaPorte, IN, three brothers; Gene (June) Collings of Elyria, OH, Jack (Helen) Collings of Kingsbury, IN and Ira Lee Collings of New York.  He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Zeb was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Sue Root, one sister; June Deditich and two brothers; Burl and Harold Collings.

Zeb was self-employed in sales and loved selling to the farming community.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. 

Mr. Collings’s hobbies included marking cards to send to people in need, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.  He was member of the First Baptist Church in North Liberty and a past Master at the Masonic Lodge of Kingsbury.

Visitation hours will be held Monday June 16th from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home “Walkerton Chapel” located at 1216 Roosevelt Rd, Walkerton.  Funeral services will take place on Tuesday June 17th at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Gene Collings officiating.  Burial is to follow at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty, IN.
